Health
We advise you to get these vaccinations and to verify inside the programme in pdf the travel information of every single expedition:
- Tetanus
- Typhoid fever
- Hepatitus A and B
As far as malaria is concerned, the illness transmitted by a bite from the female anopheles mosquito, this can be prevented in a mechanic way, that is avoiding mosquito bites abiding by the following rules:
- sleep under mosquito nets
- use bug or insect spray to get rid of the mosquitos
- after sunset, when the mosquitoes are more active, avoid leaving parts of the body exposed, wearing light-coloured long pants and long-sleeved shirts because dark colours attract mosquitoes. Also spray exposed parts of the body with Autan Extreme.
As for the use of anti-malaria medicine, we suggest that you consult the Office of Public Hygiene; the usual sanitary precautions often vary and change.
First Aid Kit for the trip
We suggest that you bring a small first-aid kit with these medicines:
- Analgesic/antipyretic: acetylsalicylic acid and nimesulide
- Antibiotics: like amoxicillin
- Against Malaria: you should bring 2 confections of Lariam in case of emergency
- Antidiarrheal: loperamide or kaolin only if symptoms persist (only use if necessary)
- Rehydrating salts – in case of liquid loss
- In case of motion sickness during the flight or drive: motion sickness pills or chewing gum
- Antihistamine: in case of allergic reactions
- Scissors, tweezers and thermometer
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray (autan estreme ) IMPORTANT!!!
