Chobe National Park<\/strong> is the most famous park in Botswana because it boasts over 120,000<\/strong> elephants<\/strong>: the highest concentration on the entire continent. The park takes its name from the river that traces its north-eastern border with Namibia. The waterway rises in Angola where it\u2019s called the Cuando, crosses a stretch of Namibia where it becomes the Kwando, and then reaches Botswana where it\u2019s renamed the Chobe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Inside the park you can identify several areas worth visiting<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chobe Riverfront, better known as Serondela<\/strong>, is the most easily accessible and therefore most visited area. It stretches along the riverbanks and is characterized by lush vegetation, with grassy plains and teak forests<\/strong>. It\u2019s also the area where most animals concentrate, especially large herbivores including elephants<\/strong> and buffalo<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Savuti<\/strong> includes the Savuti Marshes and the Mabane Depression, what remains of a prehistoric lake that dried up over time. It\u2019s an area of savannas <\/strong>and grasslands<\/strong>, which during the rainy season attracts wildebeest,<\/strong> zebras<\/strong>, warthogs<\/strong> and consequently predators like lions<\/strong>, hyenas<\/strong> and cheetahs<\/strong>. One of the main attractions in this area is the Savuti Channel<\/strong>, an a mysterious river with an unpredictable nature<\/strong> that fills and dries up independently of rainfall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Where the course of the Chobe widens into a floodplain you\u2019ll find the Linyanti Marshes<\/strong>. Riverine vegetation<\/strong> grows lushly along channels<\/strong> and lagoons<\/strong>, which host crocodiles<\/strong> and hippos <\/strong>and attract many other species, especially during the dry season. In this area you can also observe antelopes<\/strong>, leopards<\/strong>, lions<\/strong> and numerous bird <\/strong>varieties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In fact Chobe National Park<\/strong> is a famous destination for both safari <\/strong>and bird watching<\/strong>.
