Tanzania’s largest and most untouched National Park

Ruaha National Park takes its name from the river that runs through it. It’s the largest in Tanzania at 20,000 km², yet it remained unknown for a long time and even today it’s a nearly untouched destination. In fact it’s located in a remote, hard-to-reach area and that has protected it from human presence.

The park’s terrain is very varied and alternates between hilly, wooded areas and arid savannas. There are over 1,400 plant species, plus the ever-present miombo forests, baobabs, acacias, euphorbias and also sycamore figs and palms near the watercourses.

Such a rich environment offers the chance to experience thrilling safaris because it hosts a great variety of animals. Among them stand out several rare antelope species like the lesser kudu, eland, sable antelope and roan antelope. And more than 570 bird species like the very distinctive hornbills, the rare sooty falcon and Eleonora’s falcon, both migratory species.
