We’re thrilled to share news we’ve been waiting for many years: Mount Mulanje is officially a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for its extraordinary natural and cultural value.
The Government of Malawi immediately highlighted the positive impact this recognition can have for the region’s development. It’s a great opportunity to boost local communities and promote Malawi’s image around the world.
For us at Africa Wild Truck the UNESCO recognition is also hugely important. Mulanje is where our main office and lodge are located, the starting point for all our hiking activities. We’ve lived at the foot of the massif for over twenty years and we’ve always been convinced of its immense value, for its scenic beauty and natural heritage but also for its role in the spirituality and daily life of local people.
