The world capital of safari
Arusha was built in the 19th century as a centre for German colonial administration and at first it was a quiet town, surrounded by vegetation, farms and plantations.
Since then it has grown exponentially to become one of the most developed cities in Tanzania and a very important tourist centre. This is because it’s strategically located to reach the parks and attractions of the country’s northern circuit: Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, as well as Mount Kilimanjaro. For this very reason Arusha is also known as the world capital of safari.
